Anyone else had problems with their rear heated screen not clearing. The light on the switch on the console comes on, Anybody have any ideas what the problem might be. I have a multi-meter but not sure where to start looking, is there a power regulator or any cables that are likely to be faulty? Cheers

    doesn't help your query but,

Had my May 05 plate back to garage to check heated rear screen operation as it is taking an age to do anything. VW dealer has checked it and says it's OK. Rover 400 I had previous to this car used to clear in about 2 miles. This Passat one barely gets it clear in 6.5 mile trip to work, not good

All seems a bit strange, I had 2001 saloon the rear screen took ages to clear but the 02 estate I have now clears really quickly.

Same here, I have a 2000 estate, and it takes ages to clear. The mirror don't seem to work at all, but it has power going to the mirrors.

Check the wires for wear at the hinge to the boot I had problems and found a broken wire within the harness there . my car has done 172,000 miles so its been opened and closed hundreds of times. may help if there is a total failure , rather than taking ages to clear.

    OK

Just had a couple of frosted rear windows here in Teesside and the heated rear window is working fine now. Clears within 1/2 mile now.

So the colder it gets the better it operates

    I'll second that!

Just realised that my rear screen cleared well quick this morning too - I thought it was odd at the time but it was still dark
