Audi Paint warranty

Hello, I recently purchased an 2012 A4 Avant and only after a few months of owning it I have noticed rust starting to appear just underneath the rear windscreen.
I have a few mates who used to work in my local Audi dealership and they have advised about the 12 year rust warranty, but because i didn't buy this from Audi will it still be covered?
Also one of my mates reckons its had paint work done as there is a little over spray in places, if that is the case would I still be covered buy the Audi warranty?
Would I need to take the car back to where I bought it from? I did also take out Guard X paint protection so wondered if it would be covered by that by any chance?

Any help/advise would be great full.

go to a dealer. you are still covered by the warranty. they will measure the paint and if its been repaired then they will send you on your way. if its original factory or audi repaired paint then you should be covered, but then bit about overspray tells me its been poorly fixed in the past so wont be audis problem.
