hey y'all...firstly a bit of history....

bought A4 tdi 96' (ahu) 6months ago following payout by getting rammed by a HGV in my punto...

was smiling for like 3days (audi at 19) - (been an audi fan for atleast 6years prior) anyway, the car done 150,000miles full service history...

since i got the car, had a lot of problems. everybody told me to sell it and start again. but i refused. after new suspension arms and brake p + d's, cambelt, fanbelt and tensioner, work my car is like at 165,000miles now and feeling tired. MAF is srewed and turbo is "wooshing" a bit. (turbo fairy?)

anyway, since the engine is old and tired, i want to get a compressin test and check the state of the pistons and heads before chipping with chip and spin. (plus getting a new MAF)

with regards to compression testing and basically giving the whole engine a complete check is audi ******** the only place to go???

PS- how much would all this cost me, im gettin a new MAF but cant decide wats more important this month either new ABS sensor or compression testing with all fluids changed.

sorry bout rambling on, all help is always apprecieted.

How can I tell if my MAF has gone?

I'm never conscious of turbo kicking in when I think about it.

    Any ideas?

all points to someone with vag com with a diag check you will know were to start if you have a maf prob sort that first if you start messing with one thing that turns out to be related to another you have over looked you will waste alot of time effort and most importantly ££££££
mark aka chip n spin will always check a car first before map anyway...

how can you tell ur MAF has totally gone?

well usually revs between 2000-3000rpm are sluggish.

try going up a moterway hill without too much losing speed (i sometimes lose 30+mph)

the easiest way is to get a diagnostics done.

in general, your car is not as quick as it should be.thats wat i think anyway.

and Hoggy thanks, i have been in touch with mark on numerous occasions. forgot to ask him if he wud carry out a compression test!!! thanks...
