  1. Engine cuts out on the move then Parking Brake faulty appears

    Hi
I've done a basic search on here and can't find anyone with the same issue.
The engine on our B6 (105BHP TDi) will start, run for a few seconds and then die. Immediately that happens I get the "Parking Brake Fault" in the information panel. This is with the brake released I should add.
The car will immediately restart, and run, but as you pull away the engine dies again. This is without re-applying the parking brake.
I can hear the motors operating on the callipers and have just ordered a switch as the cheapest repair option to try first.

Then the thing will run fine for a few minutes allowing you to drive away and again the engine will die on you. Not great as you lose PAS, brakes etc.

    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

VCDS Autoscan needed to see what the electronics' control modules are reporting.

It's not possible to drive it to get it to someone so it's being towed Monday evening to a mechanic friend who will look at it Tuesday. He has the very latest Snap-On Modis Ultra so hopefully that will reveal the problem.
In the mean time I have just ordered VCDS from Amazon for a happy price so I can report faults correctly on here when the next fault arrives, as reading this forum makes me think its when, not if.

If there's a VCDS user listed in your vicinity, they may come to you

Those "VAG-COM" and "VCDS" items listed on Amazon are counterfeit clones. Suggest you cancel your order, put the £40 toward the real thing -- a VCDS MicroCan from Gendan. Yes, it's £208. Yes, I barfed when I bought mine from the US when there was no Ross-Tech agent over here. Yes, I've saved many times more than that over the years and got others moving with it too.

I've been out twice to cars that have had counterfeit clones with the hacked VCDS beta ver12* used on them. In both cases, weird ¬`^*$}~ Hi-ASCII characters were in the module coding strings. Couldn't be seen in the Autoscan. Couldn't be seen in the clone. But could be seen in mine. Had to go into each module and reset coding to clear.

Modis will give only generic codes ("p" codes) It will not perform Basic Settings or other procedures to reset your brakes' control modules.

I chucked it in the bin. I had someone who repairs ECU's for a living test it out and he said it was beyond repair.
