2004 audi a4 2.5tdi quattro auto gearbox issues

Hi all I have a few issues with my auto gearbox since changing the oil and filter (slight wear through of sump caused overnight leak which meant repairing sump and fitting new filter/filling with oil)
Now since this the gearbox has a slight whining noise when revving through each gear almost similar to the noise of a blown turbo. Also, when driving the car will not keep up the revs if I lift off the throttle, for example if I'm at 60mph in 5th gear and the engine is at 2000rpm once I lift my foot off the revs drop to around 1100 rpm, this applies to any rev and any gear.
Now I am wondering if the wrong oil would cause these issues? It is more noticeable as the engine/gearbox is warmer which would suggest the oil thinning too much?
The oil I used is for CVT gearboxes which I later found out my gearbox is not as it is a triptronic box (the 1 which shouldn't give bother).
If anyone has any info or advice please let me know, if you can point me in the right direction of the correct oil to use that would be great.
Also just to note the gearbox was filled properly, warmed up and ran through each gear (held roughly 8 litres). And the car was not drove without gear oil at all!

I have the same car Avant Sport.The box was filled by Audi in 2011 cos a helper undid the drain in error and they called it a multitronic change cos their menu doesnt include a tip .The invoice says ATF oil part no GO52162A2 which I assume is the same as multi.There have been no problems since.They did find a leak in the centre diff which I have since had fixed by an inde using the same ATF as advised by Audi.It does suggest the ATF if it was OK before

Thanks I'll try that part number, I may give audi a ring too maybe one of there technicians can advise me if the oil I used would cause these problems.
I took the car for a drive earlier the gearbox is perfect when cold and these problems only start when it's warm so I feel as though the oil is getting too thin and causing these problems, hopefully that's it anyway!

I find their partsman helpful and knowledgeable and willing to ask techies for me.He told how it wasnt straightforward just to add ATF and advised getting it done there .Glad I did and it did seem better although they only topped it up with 5ltrs.Luckily the AA trailered there as well .I then found out that others say its good to change the ATF despite Audi saying sealed for life

Yea they hold different amounts depending how much drains out of it. I know the multitronic boxes require oil change every 40,000 miles but the triptronic are different. Hopefully I can find out more today with that part number hopefully it is different to the oil I have used!

Still having issues/no improvement with this if anyone can suggest anything. I can only get the gearbox to hold approx 4.5 ltrs, guides online suggest around 5-5.5 ltrs.
Am I following the correct procedure for filling the oil by putting into reverse for 15 seconds, drive for 15, back to reverse for 15 and into park then fill to overflow and repeat until 40 degrees, allow to cool and do it again? I left to cool but wouldn't hold any more oil so I left it overnight, today it held between a quarter and half a litre more but that was it. After driving there is no improvement and I think it may actually be worse than before.
If anyone can suggest anything or provide some insight here that would be great, thanks.

Bumping an old thread because I had a very similar issue on my S4, I only had the gearbox/clutch whine from 3rd to 4th under load (30% + throttle). Not sure if it's related but approx 3 months later my gearbox died, lost all gears and it wouldn't move. It's currently going through a complete gearbox overhaul, so incase it's related I would get it looked at asap. I also thought a gearbox service would help but it didn't do anything.

I think we would be interested to know if the problem can be identified and if any others are suffering.Dont think mine would justify the cost of an overhaul so maybe time to find something else.

I'm still no further forward with this, tried different oil, different filter. Making sure it had enough oil which I believe it did (drained & refilled 3 times with 5-5.5ltrs). Still has that whine and slipping through every gear.
I removed the gearbox yesterday, was going to get it looked at but no one in n.ireland entertains automatics. So I have just bought another gearbox with warranty, praying this will cure the problem.

Once I get everything fixed I will be selling the car, I have never had such a bad experience with a car and I have now been put off automatics for life.
I will report back once the new gearbox arrives. In the meantime I have a turbo and power steering pump to also change, where does it end eh??

So odd if it was OK before.I think you have to sell if you have lost confidence in the car although they are nice when on song.Had a lovely long drive in Sport mode today. Pity we cant get to the fault cos I have never heard of any bother with these before and now am wondering whether to get out too.Manuals are generally much more straightforward but autos are still popular
