    Hi all,

I going to upgrade from my Golf Mk6 TDI 140 and need some help please.

The options I am considering are:

    1) Golf Mk7 GTI
    2) BMW 125i
    3) Mercedes A250

As such I have ruled the Merc out, because although it is the nicest, most luxurious and most desirable, the ride is hopeless. So the fight is between the 125i and the GTI. To be honest, I drove a standard Golf (1.6 diesel, DSG, with sports suspension) and a standard 1 series (1.6 diesel, automatic, with normal suspension) and I liked the BMW much better, but I am a bit too brand loyal and also would probably have more fun in the GTI in the end.

One of the things that I can't figure out though is when the facelift is coming out. I would wait for a few months, but I have no clue whether it is a few months or a couple of years for the facelift. There are articles on the web saying that a facelift is going to arrive this year, and apparently this includes 1) TFT cluster and 2) LED headlamps. One article said it is going to be available as early as spring.

Does anyone have any concrete information please that can help me out?

    Thanks
    Dave Malta

I'm not sure about the facelift for mk7.

If you like the merc so much why don't you get the amg? I got one for a couple of days and it was a cracker. A bit different too from a gti. The ride was superb. It could handle most things I threw at it

I'm actually pretty confused at the moment. I have just realised that for the price of a new GTI I can get a nearly new 330d. I went for a test drive in one today and the acceleration was out of this world.

    By the way, quick update:

I contacted VW UK and apparently the Golf Mk7 facelift is due sometime next year.

I just purchased a 3 year old Mk7 Gti coming up from a 2ltr Tdi 140 ps. The Gti is a thoroughly rounded out creature. Yes some other cars can go like 'stink', but on our rubbish roads and speed restrictions and traps, what's the point. The Gti will do you proud anyway, and used wrongly will still allow you to get the three points you are seeking. Good luck with your decision
