After recently moving to a new house and getting everything just right, I washed the wife's car today. After a few mins I touched the locking button on the door (she has keyless entry and start) and the door locked. I pulled the door and it opened!!

Without thinking, we had put the key rack on the wall inside the house, adjacent to the car so was in range and you could open the car. Oops. Glad I found it when I did

thats handy then as most people will store their car close to their front door and their keys by their front door as well. did you try it to see if it would start, and if it would, could you drive off or would it stop itself when the keys go out of range. ???

You couldn't have started it, but could have had anything inside away, and or cloned a key as per the watchdog episode last year.

The key has to be in the car to start and stop it but has no effect other than that i.e. You could start it, give the key to someone and drive off
