    Hello everyone,

This is my first post so I hope that all you experienced people out there can help me out with this?

Recently I have been going to my Touran in the morning and my brake lights are on. When I press the brake pedal they go off. I have been checking that they are off when I leave to the car in the evening but at some point in the night they are turning on. I should also mention that this seems to drain the battery also as more often than not the battery is flat and I have to get the jump leads out.

Any ideas and advice greatly appreciated please?

    Thanks in advance..

    Rich.

dodgy brake switch. see how far you need to actually press the pedal down to get the lights to come on. if its only a tiny weeny bit then the switch may just need replacing. the pedal may just be sinking enough to switch them on.

    Thanks Zollaf,

After doing lots of looking on line it seems that the brake light switch is the most popular answer.
I have had this issue for quite a while now and put it down to a recent new battery change so much so that I had a replacement battery under warranty. I have even been told by two local garages that I might need a new cluster unit as somewhere along the line a message is being sent to turn the lights on.
I will certainly but a new switch and hope that is the issue I will be very very happy if this solves the problem.
If it doesn't what else could I be looking out for?
