I am looking to buy an Audi A4, but on autotrader and eBay it seems you can only buy from trade sellers!

Where are all the private sellers?

We all know you end up paying top prices if you buy from trade.

Dealers hike up the price by a couple of grand though...

I have just had bad experience with them also; I took my Golf to a VW dealership for a service and they told me it needed £970 worth of essential work on it (oil leaks, break pads and discs, etc) - I refuted it, took it for independant AA inspection and there was NOTHING wrong with it - 40k miles later the break pads needed replacing! I just see dealers as rip-off merchants after that. But I suppose you can't tar them all with the same brush.

To be honest, i'd expect that 90% of cars that are under 3 years old are probably just traded in to dealers by people who can afford to regularly change their cars and like the convenience of it. If you keep looking you'll find something that fits your bill, just be prepared to travel anywhere in the country!

i agree that dealers have to charge the monies but what one person passes on a mot another will fail.
the point is if you love the car and have time to fix and service your car yourself then this is a much more in depth service .
if you can only rely on small garages or main ******** then you have to pay your money and take your choise.
no matter how you try you always come back to what you first started
