    Hi all

I purchased the A4 last Friday and on Sat I found I couldn't turn ECON mode off! On investigation and after connecting to VAGCOM, it gave an error with the G65 pressure switch (or lack of pressure). Anyway, I thought I'd try to get the switch first as an internet search revealed it was a common fault and I read somewhere it was easy to change. Simply take out the headlamp unit, unscrew and replace!!

WOW, was I wrong! I must have read the instructions for a different model, because I've spent literally hours removing all the screws I can and the headlight will not come out pas the bumper. On searching again (using the correct model, B8), I found a diagram that looked like my model and indicated there were only about a dozen bolts to remove and the headlight would come out. Strange, I thought, I must of missed something?!?!? So....I tried again, only to be defeated again!

It's looking to me like I actually have to dismantle the front of the car to remove the headlight to change the switch!!!!!! Who designs a car like that?? Or, am I missing something?? I have searched and searched, but cannot find and details of how to remove this headlight or indeed the front of the car. Plenty of stuff about the B7 and the B6, but not for mine.......so........here's the question...

Has anyone any idea how to do this? Any help greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance

Yep, that's the one I found and why I tried a second time!! No luck for me though as there isn't a top cover to take off as you can see on the photo. Mine just hasn't got the room to move anywhere but slide forward and back about 3cm!
Mine is a 2.0 diesel model, so maybe that's why, but I'm amazed that nobody has come across this issue anywhere on the internet.....that is a first........almost a googlewack!

Mine is a 2.0 diesel also, you must be missing something or doing something wrong. Got mine out on the first attempt.

Interesting! But what could be wrong?? Tonight (my second attempt), I removed approx 20 screws from the top and headlight but still no luck. Looking at the photo, I'd have to cut a 2.5-3.5cm strip out of the blue plastic front just below the left hand green circle to have a chance of removing the unit. Basically it has to slide out forwards and that bit stops it, but you can't manoeuver it in any way. Perhaps mine is not a B8, even though it has the same front at the blue one in the pic and a friend of mine who has the vagcom software has told me it is. Maybe they changed the design, since I note this forum says 2008-2015 and mine is a late 2007.

That's the issue then, it's a B7, not B8 so that's why you can't get your headlight out.
