Many thanks Zollaf for your reply

I am planning on doing the work myself. I am not a VAT registered garage.

The car has had its first VW service however they have just done a mickey mouse service.... just a mere oil & filter change.

I really feel that that the rest of the filters are overdue and could benefit from being replaced. I am planning on having it serviced by VW which is due approx april 2017.

By replacing the rest of the filters myself with genuine VAG parts such as Air,Fuel, pollen could this invalidate my warranty? Is there a way in replacing these filters yourself without it affecting your warranty?

    Thanks

ok, right, so you want to do an interim service. i see. fair play. as long as all the required services are stamped as required then your warranty should be good. if you change the filters and do an oil change, and keep the receipt after buying the bits from vw, then i can't see a problem. the car will be worth more in the long run, to the right buyer, and you have a better running and more efficient car. in the old days a service was done every 3k miles, including filters. now an air filter is expected to last 20k miles filtering air thats more polluted than it was 30 years ago. go figure ? so i would go ahead, not sure of the service schedule for your car but an air filter and pollen filter and oil/ filter change should do the job fine. fuel filters generally last a lot longer as fuel is well refined these days. to get the part numbers you could remove the old filters and take the numbers down off those, although this is no help with the oil filter.

    Thank you for your reply

YOu've got me worried with the warranty stuff...

Would that be a yes that providing that i use genuine vw filters in between services i should be fine and would NOT have an issue with warranty if needed.

Also if warranty claim was ever needed could vw invalidate my warranty by replying that because there is evidence to suggest that the service filters/components have been tampered and hence the reason why this has avoided my warranty.

Do VW have their own way in assessing whether a vehicle has been tampered in between services?

Does anyone know the torque values Nm for oil, air, fuel filters? i'm guessing this would be one of the things they would check when the car comes in for a service or warranty claim?

    Thanks

as long as you have the services it needs on record, either at vw or a vat registered garage, and either stamped in the service book or on computer, then nothing else would be checked come a warranty claim. say your turbo went bang, then they might look mat your engine oil or pull your filter out, and they will find a nice vw filter, so not a problem. i don't think there are any rules about extra services, just the required ones. there is a thing called ' block exemption', introduced a few years ago, basically saying you don't need to take a new car to the seller for services, as long as its a vat registered garage using bona fide parts... then the manufacturer has to comply with their warranty. google it, you may find exactly what you need to know.

    Many thanks, much appreciated.

Do you by any chance have any technical information on the torque range/values Nm for the air, fuel, oil filters?

When replacing the filters myself i want to tighten them to VW torque range

    Thanks
