Someone I am talking to about mapping my car has asked me for my engine code. The fella I bought it from says its the 110bhp engine. I have looked on the cam belt cover and its says AFN105826 A.

Is that the code I need?

I did a bit of googling and found this, so it could be 1995 - 1999 1.9 TDI AFN 110 81.95

    Year Model Code BHP Kw
    1995 - 1999 1.9 TDI AFN 110 81.95
    1996 - 2000 1.9 TDI AHU 90 67.05
    1997 - 2001 1.9 TDI AHH 90 67.05
    1998 - 2001 1.9 TDI AJM 115 85.675
    1999 - 2001 1.9 TDI AVG 110 81.95

its an afn then. don't think you can map this through the port, like my 80, needs a new chip. i got mine off a chap in poland, you just pull the old one out the ecu and pop the new one in, simple as that. it might remap though, you will have to ask..

Yes it's the AFN. You'll also see the same letters and numbers on the V5.

I have to say its by far the best diesel engine I have ever driven. I had a similar aged escort with a 1.8 td and that was awful. Nothing at all low down, it would finally pull and get going then when I shifted gear the power would drop and I would have to wait for it to build up again. The tdi in my avant pulls hard from very low revs, and the power never drops off. Those 2 engines are light years apart.
