Audi A4 Quattro 1998 windows will not open

My son bought a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro 2.5 5 speed it is a great running car but the windows, sunroof and the door locks do not work (electric). We have checked all the power point and grounds and all seem to be good. He does not have a keyfob for the keyless entry. Can someone point me in a driction that I will not spend a lot of money to fix this problem?

Hi & welcome! A couple of common causes for electric window related issues are the flexible joints between the drivers door & door frame, and also the consumer unit in the passenger footwell. Check the condition of the flexible joint in the drivers door, pull back the rubber & take of the door panel, look for any signs of wire damage. The comsumer unit in the passenger footwell can be damaged by a water leak through the air duct into the car from the engine bay. Pull back the carpet & look for any signs of water staining in the area of the wiring etc. I suggest you also get hold of the vag-com software from www.rosstech.com, you can get cheap cables from ebay, some international sellers are US based anyway! This will allow you to pinpoint electrical faults on the car. Good luck with this.
