Hi ive changed my dual mass flywheel to solid flywheel kit yesterday. But it makes noise like my dual mass flywheel, when it was broken. Is that normal? Advice needed.

this is one downside of the solid conversion, it will be noisier than a brand new dmf.

The release bearing is probably no good.

If you got the job done at a garage then take it back.

It will be flywheel chatter, it was never designed for a SMF, so you will get this and other issues may appear, and some have complained of gearbox damage after a SMF conversion, think it's down the the vibration that the DMF filters out.

Nice little aritical on SMF & DMF. https://www.torquecars.com/tuning/dm...d-flywheel.php

I don't have any vibration, just the noise, when clutch is up. But car drives perfectly fine.

I was searching around the net. That's common for smf.

I've had solid instead of DM flywheels in the past - they tend to be slightly rattly at idle when sat in neutral specifically. As soon as the clutch is depressed the noise should disappear.

It's a side effect of reduced weight, there's less damping mass to stop transmission lash / rattle.

It's nothing to worry about generally but I'd suggest contacting the supplier of the kit to check it's normal if you're not sure :-)
