Long story short. Me and my friend both bought a Golf MK6 1.6 Tdi 2011 match 7 gear DSG. 50k miles. Took it to a specialist who done a ECU update on both cars. At 52k miles both cars got a flashing wrench/spanner on the gear indicators?! Both cars drive fine and the spanner only appears when its warm. Took it to a local garage and this code came up on BOTH cars:

    006079 - Hydraulic Pump P17BF - 000 - Play Protection Intermittent

Specialist says pump in DSG needs to be changed (£1500 parts and labour).

Is this something programmed into the ECU? 52k miles hydraulic pump alert?

probably something to do with the remap you both had. do you really think that vw would programme the box to fail whilst still under a warrantable mileage ? if you hadn't remapped the cars then vw would probably give you some goodwill, as long as the service schedule was followed exactly, including any gearbox service, but the map is going to wave any chance of that goodbye.

We didnt remap the cars. Just a software update. Sorry to not be clear. Service schedule is followed. So is the DSG box covered by VW warranty?

Thanks mate. Do not think this bulletin is for a 2011 golf.
