Funny you should ask about glove box Dub. Opened mine at the weekend and crack! I thought a CD had got caught up and broken but something has broken that supports it. It just drops open when opened, no resisitance, and the light has stopped working.. great!! I love these Audis.

Another weekend fix. I'm not forking out for a new one. If I get the light working again I will be happy!

You can't get the lid seperately from Audi - I recently bought a glovebox with the CD changer prep - that was £150 retail price from Audi!

I had the same sodding thing happen to mine monday. no crack or noise when i opened it apart from the sound of it bouncing as it wasn't damped. Not happy. Light still works though. Have to have a look wk end. Let us know if/how you manage to fix it. I'll do likewise.

    Mellie.

Yes this happend to my car and guess what also to my fathers A4....you can access the switch / plunger mechanism which is behind the plastic panel on the side of the cars dash -

Open passenger door ( if you have a car handbook it will show you how to open it as if you are replacing fuses LHD) then prise open cover with flat head screwdriver and there you should find plunger / switch with plastic pin, which can pop out.
The plunger / switch base can break a `leg`which stops door from opening smoothly, which in turn can stop door opening completly or if it does open, the glove box door will `drop` without a light and no dampening.

    Cheers Anth

part available as glove box plunger and switch - I think for around £15 ?!

Unbelievale, this must be another gremlin on the A4 Thanks for that info Anthony, I was about to start with taking the glove box apart, good to know that it's accessable from that panel. Makes sense what you say. I'll have to hope nothing has broken and I can simply fix.

I'll let you know Mellie what the outcome is.

I managed to get home early and have a look at the glove box. Sure enough it had done exactly as anth said. Rather than buy a new one i just fed a plastic tyrap though tightened it up and cut off the excess. Stops the broken arm on the damper splaying open and letting the door just drop.
