Cabriolet boot soaked help

Hi there I have recently bought a 2003 audi a4 cabriolet and in the poor weather we have had recently have noticed that the boot is absolutely soaked inside, As I open the boot mainly the water pours out from the actual boot lid? Since I've bought it the boot and roof have never worked and I wondered if it would be because of the water around the electrics in the boot? The only way I can open the boot is with the key manually. Any help would be really appreciated. cheers

Is your boot lid brake light deformed and allowing water ingress into the boot lid innards, seen this with the older 80 derived cabby.
If the loom in the boot shut is damaged you will see issues with the locking just like the issues with the drivers door electrics.
Again harping back to the way the electric roof works on the 80 cabby, if the boot lock is not in correct order, the roof will not work, something to do with the car may think the boot is open and therefore wont allow the roof to open. I know this was all 80 cab related and I've been there myself.
Fortunately your 2003 cabby will be readable via vagcom/vcds, this is probably the best place to start.
Another thing to look at ref the roof messing about is the microswitch in the stowage compartment, mucked about on my 2002 cab recently, kept telling me the stow area was raised when it was not

Cheers for the information Stuart. I'm gonna have a in depth look at the weekend and try and pinpoint where it's coming in and remove the boot lid carpet panel as this is absolutely saturated. I think the electrics must be effected because even when putting the key in the boot manually and pressing the button there is no open noise from the button.

Managed to get a half hour spare today so removed the trim on my boot lid and after drying it out with a hair dryer I also noticed that my boot lock solenoid/actuator is stuck solid and looks as though its seen better days. question is if the boot electric solenoid is not working would this in turn cause my roof to not work due to safety procedure as earlier pointed out? cheers
