    Hello,

Now it is time to change brake fluid. In service manual is not described which brake fluid is used only to ask my dealer.

As I am not going to dealer, I saw that on brake fluid reservoir and its cap is written DOT 4.

Do I need to use DOT 4 or some newer DOT (like 5 or 5.1)?

The car is Audi A6 2.0 TDIe, 100 kw, manual, 2011 CY.

    Thanks for advises

    Cheers Novak

DOT 4 is fine, however 5.1 is an 'upgrade'....higher boiling point etc.
Avoid DOT 5, it's mineral based and isn't suited for our motors.

5.1 is for race applications. 5 is silicon and should be avoided. stick to dot 4.

...but saying that you can get race DOT 4 fluids that have higher boiling points than 5.1s.

When changing fluid, avoid any air getting into system or it will be difficult to remove
