Does anyone happen to know where the control modules for the folding mirrors and the power tailgate are located on a C6 pre facelift Avant ?

From the first week I bought this A6 I decided the two most important enhancements would be to make the mirrors fold on locking the car and to be able to close the tailgate from inside the car or at least from the key fob.

Needing the ignition on to fold the mirrors in is frankly a bit dangerous as it means losing sight of traffic when opening the door to get out onto a busy road. What were they thinking ?

Power tailgate opening quickly loses its appeal when passengers open the tailgate to get their clobber then cant work out what to do so the driver has to get out, walk round and press the close button on the back edge of the tailgate.

ive not been able to find any VCDS tweaks which will achieve this on the pre facelift C6 (unless someone can tell me differently ?) so have decided to make physical wiring changes instead.

Please can someone point me in the right direction of the location of these modules, I can then try to identify the pin outs and work out how to go about these mods.

It really cant be that difficult. For instance both the button on the tailgate lip and the external tailgate button are able to close as well as open. Wring the button on the drivers door to work in the same way would seem easy enough- once located.

I would think that the tailgate is wired that way for safety (to stop the driver from closing it on to someone loading/unloading).
The folding mirrors operating when doors are locked has been discussed many times, without much success.
I think that someone with an A3 has done it but can't find it.
If you manage it, please let us know how you did it.

Modules that control the mirrors are in the driver & passenger doors. The central convenience module that control the tailgate is in the boot on the right hand side next to the fuses.

all that you need to do is plug the power fold mirror into the door module and change the coding to powerfold.

No there are 2 modules, one in either door.

Some of the modules are not compatible with the power folding mirrors, the physical pins are not no the module too plug into. You may be able to code them with that option but they won't work.

Sounds like he has power fold already but wants them to close on locking, not via the switch inside.

As far as i know the mirrors would have been plugged into the modules in the factory. What im trying to do here is make the mirrors fold when i want them to (on lock) rather than having to muck about with the control when the ignition is on which is frankly a bit pointless. Im looking for a wiring diagram for the modules so I can work out how to trigger them in a different way.

A standard the car doesn't support it with factory software.

NHN completed it on an A3 8P and so did some others, might be worth a google.
