    Hi everyone, on my a4 2.8Q my cooling fan is on continuasly even when engine not hot, What can cause this?????? PLEASE HELP ME

    If its the one on the engine; it is a viscous coupled fan and should cut in only if engine is hot. Replacement only option here - not too expensive. If it is one of the electric fans it may be the one that cools the air con. Try switching off air con and see if problem persisits. If the fan now goes off, this is normal. Hope this helps.

    My viscous coupled fan also spins all the time, right from start up, any luck finding why?

    Yes. The viscous coupling is shot. Needs replacement. Not too expensive.

    How important is it for the fan to be immobilised? Cars of yesteryear had the fans running continuously and it was the job of the coolant thermostat to regulate temperature. I suppose we're talking about small differences in engine efficiency when driving at higher speeds.
