hi, my wifes 1995 audi 80 2.6 cabriolet has got a problem with the ABS system, the warning light on the dash is flashing and it feels like the ABS is on all the time. there is the correct level pentosin and the right level brake fluid. I have checked fuse 31 and this to is ok. i have started to check the speed sensors on each wheel i have unplugged the front sensors and checked with a multi metre and they are fine. i can not check the rear sensors because i can not find where the sensors plug in , i have removed the rear seat but still cant see where the connector plugs are for the sensors, can anybody tell me where they are or have a picture of the location. also if the sensors turn out to be ok what you advise i check next. thanks in advance.

Turn the ignition on and watch the light, it will pulse in groups of four such as 4 4 4 4, which means no codes and then pause. There may be more than one code so watch carefully, note the codes and tell us.

Yes, the ABS warning light will flash with just the ignition on (engine not running) and it flashes in groups of four so for example, 4 then 4 then 4 then 4 is 4444 which means no codes. Worry about the codes first.

the light that looks like this (!) is just flashing continuosly not in groups of four just keeps flashing away, i will sort this out myself in a methodical manner. if anyone does know the location of the rear abs sensor connectors please feel free to comment.

The best methodical approach is what is being suggested by the best.
The multimetre approach may tell if the sensor is reading within its limits. but it wont tell if it is not located properly etc.imo only
Did you remove the sensors from the hubs or just the connectors.

ok, i know about the abs sensors having to be the correct distance from the ring, on my year car there is a collet that makes setting them fool proof and i have new ones to install. just to clarify its the brake warning light that is flashing . i simply want to know the whereabouts of the abs sensor connectors on the back of the car.

at either side you should see some wires that disappear downwards through the chassis, then come out underneath near the front of the rear axle. they should just be black plugs with 2 wires.
