In 100.000 kilometers The camshafts been With high wear, The engine heads have been replaced to BAU engine hades with rollers instead of sliders. And the problems are gone. If you are returning again AKE parts then it happens again ?!

changing the heads seems extreme , when the original cams were known to have not been manufactured properly , and plus after another 100k miles I think the car will probably be past it anyway

Hi, actually there was nothing wrong with the oem cams, Audi spent millions of D- marks redesigning the heads for use of roller rockers on the B-engines. No way that would have happened if they could only order new, better cams .....
Thruth is the construction is rubbish, then add the longlife service strathegy wich makes things ten times worse.
Good news is your old oem cams ( vich is Ruville and of very, very good quality) made it for 12 yrs ! I think new cams of known, good German quality will make it another 10 yrs. ( cheap China cams will make you start exactly this tread again , in a year or so)

Yes, I've used a Kolbenschmidt camshaft kit with INA tappets and followers etc from German Ebay around £600. fitted around 3 years ago and all fine since.
I think camshaft failure on modern diesels is for a lot of reasons - Long life servicing, especially when coupled with short journeys. Using the wrong oil in the engine. And extreme pressures put on camshafts by high presure turbocharging, and the use of PD injectors which in them selves put high pressures on the cam, but also this makes the valve cams very narrow due to lack of space.

The Febi kit is excellent and I have had no repeat wear issues on the ones we have done. Use a ZDDP additive in your oil and use VAG PD suitable oil changed every 9000 miles. The wear issue is nothing to do with cam quality or the design though, the problems started when Zinc was removed from oil to keep the green lobby happy.

Remove any traces of remaining sealant from cylinder head and camshaft bearing caps.
Clean contact surfaces between cylinder head and bearing caps; surfaces must be free from oil and grease.
Apply a small quantity of sealant to -hatched areas- of outer bearing cap at front left/rear right.
What is the sealant that is applied ??????????A15-0384 bearing cap.png
