    Hi,
I'm new to the forum, I don't own an A6 at the minute, I'm toying with 3 tbh, first is a 204PS 3.0 A6 Avant, second is a 245PS Quattro A6 Avant and the third is a 3.0 Bi TDI Quattro A6 Avant (all range 2011 - 2013). What are the running costs like on each model?
I do a lot of motorway driving, depending on where I'm working but average around 15000 miles per year.
    TIA Lee

Servicing will be very similar, fuel economy will vary but probably less than stated in "real life".

Mine does 8 litres/100 km (no clue what that is in MPG), and couldn't be happier. If you can stretch to the BiTDI, do it!

Can't really comment on the others but I've got a 2013 BiTdi and on a gentle economical motorway run can get over 50 Mpg. But the smile on my face when I put my foot down makes up for the drop to high 30's.
No contest go for the BiTdi...

Lee, there's a handy running costs comparison tool in the "Fleet Tools" section of www.fleetnews.co.uk

I haven't checked it for all your options, but its a starting point. As mine's an allroad 245 conservatively averaging 40 MPG (most mileage at empty motorway speeds ) you should expect more.

Strangely and contrary to expectation, the biturbo seems to be more efficient than the 272

I normally poodle along at 70 on cruise, that way my 3.0 CDTI Vectra returns 52-55 mpg and then puts a smile on my face when it shoots up

My biturbo has done 38000 miles and the running costs for fuel, servicing and tyres is 17.6 p per mile. If you take out the tyres I have just fitted it is 16p/m. The biggest cost is fuel at just over 13p/m, the other costs are servicing (2 major, 2 interim), a set of tyres and wipers. Cheap motoring!

Thanks for that, I get the usual 18ppm from work and a car allowance of £7750 per year, the Vectra is nearly 10 years old and hasn't let me down in the 5+ years I've had it, I usually make money on business mileage, eg, if I go from home to the office which is a 360 mile round trip, I get ~£70 but it costs me ~£35, as per my last post above, I normally hit 70 mph and hit cruise and do my best to ignore everyone else flying past me (doesn't always work though).
I recently did a run over to Belgium, roughly 600 miles round trip and used less than a 60 litre tank all in, I know I wouldn't get that from a Bi TDI but not far off would be good.

If I drive conservatively on motorways, I get over 500 miles from a tank.

I think you would be pretty similar. I have a few trips down to Sheffield every year and average 45mpg worked out on fills. I set cruise at 76/78 and get those figures. At 70 you should get better. ( I set mine after getting the speed from a separate GPS and have never been flashed)
