    Hi all

We have a Polo Moda (11 reg) that has developed an issue where the boot light doesn't seem to work.

At first, we assumed it was that the bulb had gone, but after weeks (maybe months!) of forgetting to buy a new bulb, the light then came on again!

We just noticed that the light wouldn't come on again tonight, so were looking all around in the boot to see if we could see why, and all of a sudden, it just came on. We shut the lid, and the light went off straight away, then on opening the boot, no light again.

Does anyone know where the sensor is for the boot on this model?

For further information, I've just tested by turning the engine on and opening the boot, and the boot open light (on the dash) came on fine, when the light in the boot didn't.

    Any ideas much appreciated.

    Steve

take the bulb out, and have a look to see if any green gunge on the contact points of the bulb to the bulb carrier.

    Clean with sandpaper

Fit a new bulb, it might be on its way out . cheapest option

    Hey

    Thanks for responding.

I've just looked in there, and there doesn't appear to be any green gunge what so ever in there. All looks perfectly clean and as I would expect.

The bulb itself also looks perfectly fine.

I just looked on halfords, and 2 new bulbs (they don't sell them individually) are only £3.50, so I think tomorrow I'll pop out and get some, and test the new bulbs. Maybe the old one is on it's way out, which is why it appears fine. Rather than having blown, where it will look wrong.

I also tested the voltage that was getting to the connector, and it was getting 12V, whilst the boot was open - I'll test tomorrow in the daylight tomorrow with the boot closed, to see if that's behaving as I would expect (dropping to 0 with the boot closed).

I'll also test the light carrier at various points to see what the voltage is.

if its not the bulb, it would have to be a faulty microswitch
