"Unknown" displaying on telephone call list.

I don't know if this is a design fault or not. it is not specific to my Q7 as this has been the case on 3-4 Q7's I have looked at but I cannot understand why it would function like this. If I go into the telephone call list using the mmi popup screen it will show a list of all calls made and received in order and it displays either the contact name stored in my phone or the telephone number that I dialled or that called me. If however I use the telephone view in the centre of the cockpit area looking through the steering wheel to make calls and bring up the call list there, it displays the names of the contacts that are stored in the phone, exactly the same as the dashboard popup screen, however any telephone numbers that are not stored contact display as "Unknown" instead of displaying the number like it does on the popup screen.

So, if I want to redial a phone number that I have called previously or which called me previously then the only option is to use the mmi popup screen. If however you try to call one of the "Unknown" listings from the cockpit call list it does actually dial the number that relates to it. The problem is, when there are a number of "Unknown" items in the list you don't know which is which.

I think this is a really strange implementation of this feature and I don't understand why if the mmi screen can display the numbers, why the call list when viewed on the cockpit can't also. Surely it all comes from the same set of information?

I would be very grateful if you could either post or send me a photo/screenshot from of your call list from the cockpit showing a combination of contacts and numbers and not "unknown" in the place of the numbers.

Would that be possible please?

Edit: Sorry I am noew to this thread and can see that you have posted a photo which I have seen. Before I go back to the dealer because I have disputed this, can you just confirm that this is the virtual cockpit from the 2nd gen Q7?

Hi, Did the image in the post above not work? I had to edit out my parents numbers so it might have been missing from the post for a while. If not I'll grab some more pictures.

Hi, yes our posts have crossed. Thank you so much. Can I just confirm before I go back to the dealer that this is from the virtual cockpit of a 2nd gen Q7? Just want to check as I know the TT and new A4 also have the virtual cockpit.

No problem! Hope you get to the bottom of your issues. I'm hoping mine get fixed with mmi replacement next week.
Mine has had all the software updates available and the phone was an iPhone 6, not that it should make a difference as it seems your main screen reads from the phone fine.

My phone is a Samsung / Android so the fact that yours is an iPhone 6 got me thinking that maybe that was the issue. My Q7 has also had all the software updates and it used to show the numbers in the cockpit so I thought maybe the updates perhaps had an incompatibility issue with Android. I have just connected and tried my daughter's phone which is also an iPhone 6 but unfotunately no joy. I've posted three photos and marked them so I hope they show ok. One is from my Samsung which is from the cockpit which shows "Unknown" for a number which isn't a stored contact. Another is the same call list but on the central mmi screen and here you can see that the number is displayed. There is then one from my daughter's iPhone 6 from the cockpit where again you will see that it shows "Unknown"

This isn't the virtual cockpit as it is the loan car I currently have but exactly the same issue is present on my car which does have the virtual cockpit and is just one of the reasons it is back with the dealer.
