I started a post about replacing my rear indicators with LED bulbs....but I ended up fitting standards instead because of fault codes

Now ..... My driver side rear outer led lights will not work..... The indicator works after much fiddling but the leds do not... They do flash if I tap them hard ... So do I need a new unit?

    Background ...

At first I thought it was the bulb holder because I saw many small connections areas had been severed because of the way I reinstalled it after I put in the new standard indicator bulb.... But this seems a deliberate design ....that the plastic inner part of the unit is constructed to server certain circuits so that this standard bulb holder works with LED rear lights....I have just picked up a new bulb holder with connections intact but I have just reinstalled it again... No joy... Do I need a new rear unit ?

This is very frustrating because I have gone out and spent dough on a part that either was not needed or I have installed it wrongly and damaged it (again) or I need a new rear light unit!

LEDs do tend to fail over time, I think some other people have had the same problem on here, you should find some information if you do a search?
