    Hi everyone,
Think I've seen a thread on this before but wasn't sure it was for my model of car (A6 BE Saloon 272ps.)
We can listen to DAB with no problems but then as soon as the heated rear windscreen is switched on, all DAB reception is lost and the MMI indicates that signal has been lost for all stations. As soon as the heated rear screen is turned off, DAB reception comes back within about 3 seconds! Surely this can't be a coincidence? This test has been done repeatedly in many different areas with different DAB stations and I've had the same results every time. I believe I read somewhere that the aerial is in the rear windscreen? I also am sure I saw someone say they had to have a whole new rear windscreen to fix their problem.
I think I'm going to take the car to Audi, but just wondered what everyone's thoughts were before.
    Cheers,
    Danny.

Can be a common issue on some models, if the car is still in warranty get it back to Audi and let them deal with it

    Thanks for your reply Chris,
Will get it in to Audi as soon as possible then.
    Cheers,
    Danny.

Hi Danny, mentioned this only last month at service time on wife's Ultra A6 as it only just started...so was a passing comment from me.

New rear windscreen all done under warranty and issue has disappeared. They do have a TSB for this so they know they issue only too well.

    Hi Danny,

Coincidentally, my FL is going on Weds morning for the same fix Nemo describes - having experienced the same problem you describe. All this makes me wonder whether there was a batch of faulty rear screens fitted? Mine is a May 2015 BE Ultra.

Nemo - out of curiosity, is the tint on the replacement glass exactly the same as the other rear windows? I assume it is but paranoia at ending up with different shades makes me want to ask!

    Thanks!

Funny you ask that as we had the same worry! It looks exactly the same so don't worry.

It's a genuine Audi screen but ours was fitted by a third party at the dealership. The dealers were honest to admit that they weren't great at changing screens hence third party. But the dealership order the screen and all changed at the dealer premises.

They changed the DAB and heating elements on the new screens as was described to me to prevent the issue happening (whether that's true or not I have no idea). Ours is a June 14 Ultra and issue literally started Dec 15 about a week pre service.

    Nemo78,

Appreciate the update, that's reassuring, especially that the replacement windscreen looks identical to the other rear windows.

Interestingly, my dealership is also getting a third party to replace the screen although I was told the heating elements and radio antenna are weaved into the glass panel itself. I assumed therefore that once the rear windscreen is replaced that's the end of it in terms of work though I guess they might have to reconfigure the Radio/heating settings? Anyway, thanks for the update. You've reassured me!

Oh, incidentally, the problem with mine was apparent within days of taking delivery-I just haven't had the time to take it back.

Had mine done last year - within a week of taking delivery its started. Some elements had failed and the resistance causes interference with the DAB module

new screen is perfect but looks to get hot (or something similar) when the heating elements are on - hard to explain but it becomes very wavey when you look through - like a heat wave

Thanks everyone for all your replies, clearly it's a common problem! Ours is a September 2015 model, so could have had a screen from a faulty batch fitted as you suggested Knightly.

Will get the car in to Audi soon to fix this annoying problem!

Whitter- I know exactly what you mean, like a heat haze you might see in the distance on those rare warm and sunny days!
