I am the very proud owner of a 2011 A6 3.0 TDi Quattro saloon and for 99.9% of the time it is perfect. I am asking if anyone else has had a similar problem to the one I am now experiencing... The offside tail light in the boot area stopped working on Saturday, everything else ( indicators brake lights and reverse ) works perfectly, it came back on today and the only thing I can put it down to is dampness getting into the unit.. over to you all

On my 2012 Avant (non-LED) I had an internittent fault with the rear OS indicator. Stopped working then started working again (no need for jokes thank you!!). Someone on here suggested it could be a fault with the resistance of the filament changing when it was hot making the car think it had failed only for it work again when it cooled down. Changed the bulb and since then no problem

I know this is an old post but it makes me think I have rear LED lights (as I have xenons and lighting pack fitted).
I get a bulb failure message and it indicates the offside rear brake light (confirmed to be the one on the boot by visual inspection). Normally i'd have no problem changing a bulb but it looks like a sealed unit. The handbook lists all bulbs but not the brake lights, and this thread makes me believe it's a non-serviceable item.
If this sounds right, then am i looking at replacing the rear cluster?
I have 5 days dealer warranty left and expect them to say "bulbs are not covered", so any insight appreciated.

It's not a bulb. The LED lights are not serviceable items and should be covered under your warranty.

As above, it's not a bulb, it's lots of tiny LEDs. I'd get it back to your dealer ASAP and get them to fix it. An LED should outlast the car

Thanks chaps. Warranty runs out and might not be able to get it booked in in time. Also realised dealer did the MOT so it too expires in next 2 days. Might just get bits on eBay. Not exactly difficult to fit.

I would tell the dealer that there is a problem even if you can't get it in to them to investigate before the warranty expires, many dealers will exercise a degree of flexibility over the cut off date for the warranty especially if you have made them aware of the problem in advance. Also it is unlikely to pass the MOT with the unit not working so you will need to get it fixed quicker than most eBay sellers can deliver

As above, probably won't pass its MOT with bulbs that have failed, and also if you ring them and tell them about the issue, then it is logged by them so hopefully, if you call before your warranty expiration date they should sort it.

The wife has had a 3 month grace period recently and after a few subtle emails agreed to fix a £300 lock for free
