    My sincere apologies Captain, just done one of my front bearings with a lump hammer, some large sockets and a chisel, although it took some doing it can be done!

    However unless (as you say) you know what you're doing I would recommend using a press if possible, especially for the A6 front!

    It does make it easier however and I do tend to get them pressed for timesake. Some of the bearing puller kits are quite good apparently though i've never used one myself
    You may think I'm being helpful yet sarcastic, this is only because I feel I need to help you to help yourself in the future
