Hi guys, recently purchased a mk5 golf gt tdi and the front number plate sits in front of the intercooler on the grill and I took it for a drive today and to start with the car was great.. Accelerated fine and then it went into limp mode and wouldn't accelerate over 2500 rpm. Is this because of the number plate or should I look into it deeper?! It failed it's MOT on a couple of things including the number plate but nothing mechanical...

You need a diagnostic scan mate. I'm assuming that stopping the engine then restarting it gets rid of the limp mode? It could be a sensor, a pipe, a vacuum hose the turbo several reasons why it goes into limp mode. Fix the number plate ASAP it's a flatfoot magnet
