12v USB Power Socket Installation. Anyone attempted?

Hello guys,


One of my good friends just installed a 12V Usb socket in his 03 TT.


He found all that he needed in this really short guide:

Upon looking the part up on ebay, I can see it's quite inexpensive and it doesn't look like a big install
(saying that as I just retrofited Cruise Control and changed the brake and clutch switches aka feeling ACE!)


However, my electronics knowledge is 0!
On top of that there is no similarity in terms of what the TT has under the steering wheel compared to the A4 B7.


My question to you folks is: has anyone attempted fitting this?


Does anyone want to give it a try? I am in Birmingham and am open to making a guide for everyone

why do you have to do it ?

Is the cigar lighter not the place to put in such an adaptor ?

what would be cool is a USB port that went into the dash so you could hook up your iPhone to the radio .................................. instead of being hidden away in the glovebox etc and a nightmare to grab when your leaving the car


Or an adaptor that could use a headphone socket on any phone, ipod etc a 3.5 mm jack to 3.5 mm jack , Audi take note !!
