My car has been makin that noise that means i KNOW i need to topup the steering fluid .. only 1 problem, i have NO idea how to do it OR what to use..

I can easily identify where I topup the break fluid and the oil and the water and the coolant and all that, but have NO idea how to topup the power steering fluid.

can someone PLEASE help me out becuase its really starting to groan at me.

    I have a 2.0 sport 2003 Golf

ALSO.. the gears are starting to hold a bit long? is there an EASY way to topup the transmission fluid without having to take off the bit underneath that everywhere seems to realte to, i dont want to CHANGE it I just want to top itup until i can get it into VW to do it properly!

    THanks in advance
    desperate for ANY solution

    Matt

The power steering fluid is between header tank and the screen wash tank, it has a green top. Click on the thumbnail below and you will see where it is, Just top up with the right fluid, you can get it from lots of places, if you want genuine stuff go to VW

Yeah you still have fluid it is just that your pump is run from a motor and not a belt drivin pump from the engine. not sure where the fluid tank is, it could be on top of the motor/pump which could be down on the stearing rack.

I am unsure of how to get the green cap off. It seems not to screw, is there a majic way on doing this or do I just need to tear it off?

it dose screw off, if it has not come off in some time it can get stuck, the best way i found to get it off is to use a large flat head screw driver and rap a cloth around the end so that you do not damage the cam and just unscrew.
