Long time Audi owner and I'm on the lookout for an A6 Allroad to replace my trusty A6 C6 avant.

What amazes and puzzles me is the difference between the annual road tax for the auto and manual versions of an otherwise near identical car.

Looks to me like the Co2 -- 219 / 230. But why is the auto THAT much more??

    Audi A6 ALLROAD 3.0 TDI Quattro 5dr manual = £290

    Audi A6 ALLROAD 3.0 TDI Quattro 5dr auto = £490

band k is £290. band l is £490. k ends at 225 g/km, band l starts at 226 g/km. a manual falls into k, being slightly more efficient than the auto, which falls into l. there only needs to be 1g/km difference to cost an extra 200 bob a year.

I got mine in May 2009, so MY09 from memory, (possibly MY10 ?). CO2 had just dropped to 199g for the 240PS Tip which made a world of difference. Unfortunately I just missed out on the dechrome option.

The very reason I bought an A6 Quattro Avant instead of the Allroad - £20 a month difference
