Got a weird problem, I changed a faulty wiper stalk, put everything back together again, but the wont start, ignition comes on fine but no power to the starter, I have gone trough everything again, but cannot find anything, if I keep the ignition on and monetarily put a live on the starter the car starts and runs fine.....

Put a amp meter on battery test charge and the on the starter motor positive test the current to starter, test both when cranking too as the voltage reading will drop.
    May have a bad circuit

Fuse SB15 is for the continued circulation water pump on the typical FSI A3. You need to use a diagnostic system such as VCDS to see what the ignition switch is providing the J527 steering column controller with and then what the column controller is sending to the J519 central electrics system which power's the starter via the terminal 50 relay. The communication between the column and the central electrics is by digital CAN BUS signal. The way the terminal 50 relay operates varies a lot depending on year and engine code, it gets its power from the J519 but if you jump power from slot 1 (relay pin 30) into slot 2 (corresponding to 87 on the relay) the starer should run when the ignition is on.

Sorted it....It had an aftermarket phone connection some time in its life...connection was taken from the J527 black block connector, and a relay put in place.....this relay had come off ( caused by bad placement and years of steering adjustment) and as result the car would not crank over. As I was in there I removed the offending bugger and soldered everything back to factory...all good now.
