    Hi,

I have been trying to find and replace the vacuum actuator on my vehicle, an Audi A3 2.0 TDI (2004) 16V. I cannot find where it is, I tried searching for it's location on partslink24 but it seems my vehicle might not have that part? I say this because I searched for the part number while logged in to partslink24 and nothing came up. I also searched for vacuum and other keywords and looked through with no luck.

I'm not asking about how to cure turbo limp mode due to underboost and error P0299 as I know the question has been asked and answered before, I'm simply trying to find out if my vehicle really does have vacuum actuator and does it have an N75 Solenoid valve(Couldn't find this either).

I've looked all over the forumns and on Youtube etc and the other engines seem slightly different to mine, I've attached a picture.

I have had all the intercooler pipes and the EGR valve replaced, I have gone through two bottles of Wynns Professional Diesel clean 3, two bottles of Forte Diesel Turbo cleaner, and one can of Bardahl diesel turbo cleaner with no luck. I also sprayed a can of Wynn's EGR/Turbo cleaner into my air intake just after the MAF sensor but I still get into limp mode if I drive a gear lower than I should. I bought the car 3 months ago and have only been using Shell VPower Nitro Diesel ever since, it has 117000 miles on the clock. The car does not leak coolant or oil, I also added a can of Wynn's stop oil leak in order to recondition the seals/eliminate oil leak problems. The car chuks out grey(not black not blue not white) smoke on hard acceleration and I have been advised it's a sign of boost leak as well. I have a genuine vcds and have scanned it each time the boost problem occurs.

Sorry for being a dope but I wasn't to clear to what you meant, did you mean the turbo actuator?

If so if will be at the back on the manifold where the turbo is.

    Hi grant19841,

Yes I meant the turbo actuator, I can't actually see the turbo, without dismantling anything man I feel lost!!!

To get to the turbo actuator will I have to unmount the inlet manifold or unmount any other components, to make it easier for me where is the turbo actuator relation to the position of the alternator? Please see the image I attached in the first post.

    Thanks,

You want have to remove much you could probably do with out moving nothing, the manifold stay where it is get a touch and have a look down the back of the engine the manifold is connected to the cylinder head so it's at the top. Jack the car up take the engine under tray of then take take the drivers wheel of along with the wheel arch cover and you should find.

The actuator seals can fail so replacing it may solve your issues, it's held on by a small clip just take it of with a screw driver but be careful it don't ping of lol, also if it's a small hose conected to it that will be the vacum hose which will answer your question regarding "solenoid or vacum" sure it's a vacum because of the year it is.
When I get a min tomorrow I will post a pic of what your searching for but is quite an easy job to be fair.
