    Evening all,

my 2009 A6 Avant is with a local garage having a service, new shocks + springs and anti roll bars fitted. They have done the work and have now reported they need the car for longer because the front headlights don't have a high beam. Also the nearside brake light is not functioning.

I've had a quick look on google and the most obvious thing is that they've either damaged or unplugged the level sensors for the xenons. The lights were functioning perfectly before it was given to them. What else could be the issue?

    All input appreciated.

If they have had the suspension apart, a good guess would be the level sensors for the xenons.

That's what I thought. Would damaging these cause the main beams to not work at all?

Are these linked to the brake lights at all?

My car has the auto high beam/high beam assist if that makes a difference.

On my prefacelift the levelling has never worked but high beam works fine.

None of the work you've listed done would necessitate taking the front bumper off.

    Nearside brake may be coincidental.

Does this garage or indeed you have VCDS?

Not linked to the brake lights only xenons.
If all was OK befor garage had it, take it back for them to solve and put right at their expense.

The garage still has the car and want to keep it to rectify. They've previously carried out work on my cars with no hassle so I'm giving them the benefit of doubt but we have a trip to make in the next couple of days so I wanted to give them some hints as to what the issue maybe.

The full list of work as follows -

Service - oil, air, cabin and fuel filter. Spark plugs and new coils.

New shocks and springs. New anti roll bars with bushings.

New rear brake hoses and bleed.

The only thing that I can think of is the levelling sensor but I have little experience with Audi as this is my first. Seems strange unless there was a battery issue at some point which may have caused issue with relays etc.

I'll call them again in the morning to discuss.

So the headlight issue has been sorted, the older tech who was checking the car after the work was carried out thought the "flash to pass" lights should come on with the high beam. Also the auto high beam was activated so the bi xenons didn't switch to high beam. A little embarrassing for him but all sorted on that front.

However the outer rear LED on the NS is definitely not working, I plugged in VCDS and no errors. I'm assuming corroded connector but they're looking into it.
