Broken Springs - Replacement Options for S-Line Model

After having my 2006 2.0TFSI S-Line Special Edition serviced by Audi 2 weeks ago I fully expected it to breeze through its MOT...
Instead I was informed that I have 2 tyres on the legal limit and 2 broken rear springs

.

My dilemma now is do I replace all 4 springs for Eibach Pro Springs? And what sort of effect would they have on the stock S-Line shocks? As far as I am aware this will be a further drop of 5mm (from 25mm to 30mm) is this correct?

Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated!

The Eibach with oe Bilstein B4 dampers will outshine your S line suspension both in terms of handling and ride comfort .

If you wan to keep it as it is now, then genuine VAG springs only, if you have the time and a parts man who will do it, find out the EXACT spring details and see if Suplex or TRW do them. If you want firmer, go Eibach, there is NOTHING else like it.

Had a look at Bilstein B4/Eibach Pro Springs combination and decided that I just can't afford/justify the extra cost as well as replacing the two front tyres. The things you have to sacrifice when saving for a house hey

The garage who did the MOT have quoted approx £315 for springs and fitting, that seems a little steep considering it is just the rear springs that need replacing? This seems like something I could probably do myself however would I need to get my wheels re-aligned after they are fitted?

A4 8E rear springs are not easy at all, you either have to strip down the rear lower arms or use a special spring compressor to extract the springs.

Rear springs are a doddle, even I managed to do mine on my Sportback.

this did confuse me slightly! I am a newbie so thought i'd messed up haha

Just waiting for Audi to get back to me on prices and then I'll give it a go myself. Thanks for your help!

They can be done in less than 45 mins, even 30 if you're handy.

Audi will charge over the top, buy genuine springs and let your local specialist/independent to fit them.

Do you mean buy genuine springs from Audi? I have the colour code (3 grey spots 2 yellow spots) but can't seem to find them online?

Will I need to get the rear wheels re-aligned after this or should it just be a simple swap?

I think Chris means to get your local specialist garage to order and fit genuine springs for you. You can buy the genuine springs from your local Audi dealer, TPS branch or no doubt through your local specialist garage.
Any change to suspension components warrants a 4 wheel alignment + you are getting 2 new tyres so even more so.
