OK found the thread I was looking for ....



Read the measured value blocks 72 - 77.

3 values per measured value block appear there (for 300 bar, 600 bar, 1000 bar).

Should the values be higher than minus -45 ms (example - 60ms) or

on digit 2 be

higher than minus -15 ms (e.g. 20ms),

the needle attachment is worn and the injector is incorrect. To avoid repeat repairs, replace all 6 injectors.

Conclusion, as I suspected, is to replace injectors.... but worth checking

Also need glow plug, here's the VCDS output. I kind of knew that already, but which ones do I order ? There are a couple of different types and I dont think this VCDS gives me a part number...

So, today i got round to fitting the german ebay injectors, 919 euros exchange

also had a new set of beru GE 115 glowplugs as in the 7 years and 99,000 miles i have had the car, she never had a set.

success - all now runs smoke free even under hard acceleration to 4700 rpm. Had to get them done as she only just went through the MOT a couple of weeks back

So, if you need new injectors, these have worked out Ok so far

Got charged 6 hours labour though for the glow plugs and injectors, which I thought was a bit high. But its done. Car is now 10.5 years old and now on 132,000 miles and garage reported no faults at all on VCDS.

update....

these injectors are running fine, now on 146k. No smoke at all revs, even on tickover for 30 minutes plus.

However.... i do have poorer fuel economy - just recently though, could be the cold weather but i suspect my turbo needs a clean - i have turbo lag and lack of punch . Going to try some forte turbo cleaner as soon as it arrives from Amazon. Will let you know.
