First 1000 miles

Just a quick question
Do these cars still need a break in period like 1000 miles?
Was never told by the dealers to keep it easy for x number of miles and this is my 3rd c7
Just asking as my Mrs just got a new merc and there's a big sticker in the front of the manual that's says pretty much drive easy for the first 1500km.
Can't remember seeing anything like that for the Audis.

There is a section in the Audi manual about taking care over the first 1500km. Usual stuff about avoiding hard acceleration or braking, don't let the engine labour etc. TBH though I doubt many of us drive much differently anyway so it is not too much of an issue

I always thought it was common sense to look after a car for the first few thousand miles.

My normal 60mile commute each way is quite boring and slow. I only give it a blast when I'm overtaking in the back roads. So it's had an easy 600 miles or so. So far 😉

I knew that even before I started driving 34yrs ago.

Admittedly gone are the days of the 1000 'running in' oil change but it makes sense so that internal components don't get a baptism of fire (or is that just Zafira's?)

Yeah, but then some people have little or no mechanical sympathy. Or, in some cases, common sense.

If you don't drive like a lunatic, and keep your auto in drive mode, the gearbox will take care of the car anyway.

I've run mine in slowly, and only felt the engiine ease up after the 10k mark

If you want to keep the car trouble free for a long time, why not enjoy the comfort and the gizmos for the first 2-3 full tanks?
