    Hi guys

car: Audi A6 auto 2.0 tdi

i have noticed recently over my car has developed an issue, I did notice ever so slightly that the idle was a very tiny bit unsteady when idle on cold starts, and sometimes when hot. However over the past week it has got noticeably worse. The needle is unsteady and on the odd occasion flutters or jumps up and down for couple seconds. The issue is always in idle only! Car pulls and drives beautiful when running with no noises, jerks, etc and its only in idle. No lights on dash to indicate fault either.

    can you advice anything guys?

    cheers

Get it scanned with an up to date and kosher version of VCDS as a first call.

2 litre cars are known for oil pump/hex key failure
multitronic cars are known to be temperamental if they've not had a tranny fluid change every 40k miles

Judging from your previous posts you may have purchased a lemon, can I ask private seller/trader or auction?

Get it scanned first but could just be injector harness if a pd engine. See you're in notts, so near Crashers place if needed.

I will get it code read soon

I researched prior to purchasing the car and knew about the oil pump issue your referring to but this vehicle doesn't have that, no rattles or knocks, engine is sweet. Checked by technician.

I purchased the car at a auction (repossession) got a sweet bargain at price I got it, loaded with the good stuff. The only issue I've had so far is TCU repair costing £200, and now the idle issue. Otherwise runs great ad everything works, top condition for age. The car had has very little short usage. Came with all service history, receipts etc. I personally suspect vacuum leak or egr/throttle issue and will report back... However I'm open to suggestions

Your car will have the hex key failure issue, but does not have the oil chain issue as your engine code will most likely be a BRE engine code which is gear driven.

    Thought I'd update this thread

i still use the car daily but it's just annoying have the idle unsteady and flutter.

I've code read the car, no codes. i checked hoses, vacuum for leaks, nill. I removed flap motor and egr, very dirty but cleaned and reinstalled, still same. Air housing checked and maf, all fine.

I suspected issue is no electrical and a simple issue such as fuel issue?

whats everyone else's view? anything I can check on vcds?

Don't be an oil pump Ostrich , swap out hex key and balancer shaft for properly engineered ones .

It could be a failing DMF if there are no codes stored and unlike on a manual you can't press the clutch to help diagnose it.
