BMW 118i vs Audi A3 1.4 Tfsi 0-200

Hi Guys!
Looking forward to the new A3, with 1,4 litre petrol engine (am not a fan of diesel). In this video the A3 seems to be slower than the 118i BMW, wich is my other interest. I want to use the car mostly in suburban region, so wich is the better one? 116i, 118i, A3 1,4, A3 1,8?

I would have thought that in an urban setting, ultimate speed would be a lower priority. They'll both have more acceleration that you'll be able to use safely and top speed is completely irrelevant.

Ride quality, on the other hand, would be a high priority.

Most people, although they don't admit it, buy on image and looks as well as wanting a good deal. Have you seen the outside of a 1-Series? You'd best try them both and see what suits you.

By the way....you've asked the question on a VW Audi forum - what do you think the answer will be?

the bmw , like all bmw's, will be rear wheel drive, so initial grip off the line will be better than any front wheel drive car, but then in the bends you need to control the rear end, or just rely on the traction control, where the fwd will be easier to control. but then, if ultimate performance was an issue you would be looking at something beginning with S, like S1, or S3..
