    Hi All,

Took delivery of my long awaited Golf GTE NAV (pure White) yesterday. Oh My She Is Very Nice ;-)

Everything seemed in order, carplay (app connect) all works fine. seems i have a post BW22 MIB2 as carplay works out of the box.

Wifi (WLAN) all set up and working nicely (via Iphone personal hotspot or seperate 4G wifi router) - Kids can connect to the network in the back of car.

Car Net (hybrid side) works fine, air con set going this morning from ipad at 7.30 car toasty at 8.00 with clear windows. All good.

I have no sim slot in the CD player in the glove box, but there must be another sim somewhere phone talked to car with no apparent connection to the t'interweb

    However.............

Standard (NAV) spec states 'guide and inform' should be included for google earth, fuel costs, weather and online traffic updates rather than the TMC shizzle.

I have no menu item in settings for Car Net (online services) its missing.

There is not a great deal of info about it on t'internet but it seems i may not be alone.

    so to the question....

anyone else with a very new MIB2 Discover Nav Pro have Guide and inform working.

Otherwise the GTE is proving a good choice so far (although only done 50 miles) The instant torque of the elec motor gives you a

    Thanks for reading

    Phil

Congrats on your new GTE Nav..

I have DNS Pro II using an iPhone (personal hotspot) with 'Guide and Inform' operative.

At home I notice the car + phone has to be down the drive a bit to get a better WLAN signal sometimes.

    The Plot Thickens..........

There are two Car Net Customer Portals live on the t'internet. one with the car net before volkswagen in the web address and one with car net after volkswagen in the web address.

I can sign up to one which provides the e remote services only for the golf gte and all works fine and dandy.

I can sign up to the other portal which lists guide and inform plus along with the e remote available, it will accept the VIN number but then errors when logging the mileage of the car. Account is there and car is shown it just wont finish the registration because the mileage cant be verified.

They also seem to be completely different systems because i used the same email address and it didnt flag dual accounts. Going through both, they actually differ when finalizing the adding of a car.

The one that works you have to put in the first three letters of the VIN number (ie WVW) whereas on the site that causes 'cannot verify mileage' has the first three letters pre filled in.

I have even tried deleting all accounts, factory reset everything in the car and starting again.

I am now on a new account with different mail address with my car working fine on the e remote app. check charge, set air con / rear window demister going. Basically not very much!!!

So moving cars / accounts in and out of the system is fine as after all my head scratching and messing i am back to the start with what i had working fine.

I am thinking i must have a pre BW22 car..... How would i confirm?

BW22 and onwards should come with a 'Discover Pro (Generation 2)' handbook. Edition 05.2015.

Well that's the book I have so must be as per current brochure / price list spec and a bw22+ it was pdi late August

guide and inform plus is what it should have so a trip to the dealers is in order to raise the issue.

admittedly I did only spec a nav to guarantee CarPlay which is working fine. Just a shame it's not wireless CarPlay.
