Hello I have just took my girlfriends 2004 mk5 golf 1.9 tdi in for diagnostics, basically lots of codes they said it was probably the ecu and a new 1 was £1200 defiantly not going to get that done.
I have looked up online and ebay for used ecus with the same part number which are generally under £100 and looked up online about coding it and found some good information on how to do this, I have vcds software so could do this.
My question is how easy is it to do really and I have read about coding the immobilizer, how easy is this to do?
I live in Chippenham Wiltshire is there a business/anybody close by who could help.

    Any help would be appreciated
    Regards
    Ben Griffin

Hi thanks for the reply's, I'll write the codes below, they did clear them but all came back. The problem/reason we took the car in is it won't start sometimes, this is when the traction control light is on, the car won't start. You need to switch off the ignition and try again, this can be a few or very many times before the light is off and the car starts.
