    Good afternoon folks,

I have an 2006 Audi A6 2.0 TDI with the CVT Automatic gearbox.

I have recently spent a huge amount on on getting the gearbox reconditioned.

Now the problem is; when i start the car after it is warm, it makes this really horrible rattling noise. It is a very rough start.

My mechanic had a very quick look at it, and he said that he suspected it is the flywheel that is on its way out, but he would have to get it on the ramp to double check.

Due to work commitments, i haven't had a chance to take it back to my mechanic.

I have a few forums, but people are giving different opinions as to what the problem could be. Especially since it only happens when it is warm. When the engine is cold, it starts as normal.

Also, would i have to change the clutch too?

I would really appreciate all input

could well be the dmf but best to listen to it to know for certain. begs the question as t why it wasn't changed when you did the box, and yes, why would you even consider using the old clutch on a new dmf ?

The CVT DMF has not got a clutch, that is a multi-plate oil bath unit inside the box.

How much do you think i should be looking to pay labour wise to get the DMF fitted?

The LUK DMF is around £200 from Eurocarparts

Does anybody know if Audi UK would contribute towards any costs? I have been reading on a few online forums, that some people have managed to get Audi UK to replace the DMF, as it is a design fault?

Nigh of ten years old, no full dealer service history, not bought from a dealer, no chance. If it was a safety related recall then yes possibly IF it was on the Campaign list, which it isn't.
