Please can any body tell me if i have a canbus diagnostic port in my 2003 1.9 tdi avant. i have bought cable of ebay no canbus support or k line support,wil not run ross tech 409.1 software .Any one knows where to buy correct diagnostic leads.

I dont think vagcom version 409 will work with an older opto-coupler type lead.

You could try using version 311

I have purchased a few leads on ebay, and all have been at least 'KKL'.

Forum member 'Eshrules' sells discounted serial & USB leads.

I think you will be able to use either K+L, or CAN bus to interface with the car.

A KKL lead should work.

Your existing lead could possibly work with the earlier version 311.

I have tried vag-com 311 it does not work!Sounds like i have bought wrong lead. I will inform you how i get on with other leads thanks

I use a 3rd party ebay lead with v409 works perfectly. Is it a USB or serial lead? post a link to the lead you bought we may be able to determine whats happening

It is a usb lead item no 300155470458 if you enter it in search box e bay

That lead will work Audi don't use can-bus until 2005.

You need to use Vag-com V 409.

I suspect what has happen is you've plugged the usb lead in but not check to see which serial port has been assign to it. It need to be com 1, ,2 ,3 or 4.

You can change this within device manager in the ports section.

I will go into more detail if this is confusing.

Yes it came up as com 3 i saved it in options and it keeps searching and says cannot find modules and interface although it says com port working correctly . even more confusing!
