Hi I have a question when converting a Dmf to a Smf on a mk4 golf 1.8t (aum) do you need to do any modifications or is it a direct swap.
    Cheers

I know but there so expensive and people say they fail with additional bhp and torque. I was looking at these g60 lightened and balanced Smf flywheel with a vr6 kevlar clutch. Any good ?

don't know, but if its designed with a dmf, its generally best to keep a dmf. the extra vibrations can kill the gearbox which is designed around a dmf. the g60 never had a dmf so the problem wouldn't occur with its gearbox. some may offer alternative advice. i dont like expensive mistakes.

Now don't hit me here Zolly, it may seem to contradict what I always say but an SMF conversion on a 1.8T is not a terrible idea. My AUQ (180PS) Octavia runs a DMF and with the APR remap and a few other tweeks, I can easily make the clutch slip when power shifting. A G60 type flywheel and a Black Diamond clutch are a modification I often do on this platform BUT I prefer to go to the six speed box and Sachs conversion; however that is very expensive.

Dannyboy, it is not a G60 flywheel per se, it is the 228-mm solid flywheel used on every single Passat type 35, 3A, Corrado (apart from the VR6), Golf G60, Golf Rallye and in lots of Caddy van's, Polo's, Seats, Skoda's etc etc. The VW part number is 028 105 269 BX and it is used right up to 2015 on the Skoda Roomster 1.6 TDI.
