Steering assist change with VAG-COM for MK5

Hi guys,

I have an 07 GTI and the steering assist has been bugging me for a long time.. there is simply not enough feedback to the steering wheel. My attempts to recode the steering assist to a lower level were futile, as I found out that vw locked this feature out on the 07 GTIs.

Does anyone know of a way to change my steering assist level with another method? Will my dealer be able to change this parameter for me?

Sort of. I bought a used Steering Assist Motor and Controller module without the programming lockout, and did the swap..quite tedious. Vagcom now lets me adjust the steering assist levels properly. The steering effort required is definitely higher, but I still feel that there is a lack of steering feedback going to the steering wheel.

Next, I am going to try stiffer motor and transmission mounts.
