    I gave you a text..

Although it may seem like ive given up i havent.. Ive read into the edc a bit and it sounds like it could well be this. If it was the actual pump im sure the car would of thrown more symptoms.
Other then loss of power. What could easily be caused by the fault on the n75.

If the edc has gone will i be getting fuel to my injectors. I was thinking of loosening the nuts to see if fuel is getting there

    Anyone?
A friend said it may be glow plugs or one of the injectors. Surely this wouldnt stop the car from running?
Also is there any fuses/relays that could of just given up.

    Okay update:
The edc does click. I also checked every fuse out of boredom and they are all good.

Loosened the hoses off at the the injectors as advised by a friend. one at a time on the drivers side fuel was getting to all three of them. Dont see why the other side wouldnt be getting fuel but the battery died so ive not had chance to check. Does this mean the pump is okay?

Glow plugs seem to heat up as they should on the dash.

Also how do i know its not the sensors in the pump. Instead of the edc?

Still have to check timing as well....

I can't see it being the glow plugs but 5 out of six had failed on the All Road we have just bought (one we have looked after for years) and they certainly made it difficult to start HOWEVER the best improvement came from changing the battery. A word of warning about these glow plugs. If you take them out, you have a high chance of snapping one or all six off in the head, we have a mobile specialist engineer who comes around and removes them when this happens which is quite often. You need to know that these are working, the light on the dash will not tell you this, only a bench test will tell you for sure. You also need to get that freeware version of VCDS registered.

I didnt think the dash would give much info on this anyway dont think its battery related gave it an over night charge before trying again. And its never had a struggle to start. Plus no faults coming up on vagcom.

Checked out the needle lift sensor fault as i noticed the wire was caught in the rocker in two places.

Took the rocker cover off as it wasnt much extra work and there is a crack on the head right where the injector mounts to and the cam shaft.

Doesnt appear to be any loose parts or any other damage in there. Im guessing this would of caused the tapping maybe from flex. But not the sudden failure.

Im convinced its the edc. If the car fired after this id get a new head. But If the edc is buggered though should i be getting fuel to the injectors?

You can hammer the edc flat and still get fuel to the injectors. Coming from the internal vane pump but the pressure are in now way high enough to pop off the injectors. Again-if you turn the ignition on, do you hear a buzzing sound coming from the pump for a second or so ?
If it buzzes, there is 99 % sure the pump edc is ok( but it can still be an mechanical issue with the pump)

Since your car is a no starter you can forget about the N75 and the needleliftsensor. The things to look for is lack of fuel, jumped belt or bad injection pump

I'm confused. I know I have not read it all properly but you said it had four nasty codes on it?? I thought it did not start at all. If it starts badly with no codes, that could very well be glow plugs.

Oh yeah i have ruled them two faults out as it was running with all the faults in my orginal post no new codes have been thrown.

The edc clicks but not for a second its more like a millisecond almost like a spark

As above, forget glow plugs. These engines should start instantly without them unless it's -10 or colder. Also blown glow plugs don't show fault codes on a VCDS scan, you have to test them with an Ohms meter. And they will be well siezed in and unlikely to come out and will snap off.

The things to be looking at are air in fuel, pump timing, and dead/dying pump. All other stuff like MAP, MAF, EGR, N75, turbo, boost leaks etc won't stop the car from starting.

Replacing the glow plugs on our All Road cured it's starting problem a few weeks back in the late summer. they don't always snap, it's 50/50.
