3rd brake light on my 2006 Passat doesn't work. It's mounted at the top of the rear widow. How do you remove it? What is the usuall cause(none of the lights, leds work, so it doesnt seem to be a burned out light bulb. Thanks.

No I have not checked them yet. Does the 3rd brake light have its own fuse? It is the only thing that doesn't work. Thanks.

    Estate or Saloon?

There's only SC4 (left hand dash panel) 5A which is listed as brake light switch.
There's others for the LH and RH that are listed as being only concerned with the trailer detector unit SC29 and SC30. Do you have a tow bar?

Otherwise it's a search for where the LED bar gets its feed from. When did you last know of it working?

Just bought it for my daughter. Didn't notice it until it went for the state inspection. I really just want to remove it so I check for power to the led bar. Is it easy to remove? If not, or there is no power. I can it back to the dealer and let them fix. Don't want to go to that hassle it its an easy fix. Thanks.

4 door saloon. Light is at the top of the rear window.Looks like some molding must come off. Can't see any mounting screws or clips.

If some moulding's come off then dealer should put it back on unless you bought knowing this and in this condition. Does this mean all the wiring's and innards of the brake light bar are open to the elements?
What rear window? Estate or saloon?
A pix would be helpful, can't direct you more unless you tell us more...

As mentioned in my previous post, it is a standard 2006 saloon(4 door sedan). Nothing has been removed. I want to know how to remove the third break light at the top of the rear window.

    Misread your last.
The panel at the back of the headliner comes off when you pull it, but some plastic tabs may break. Just go slow starting from one side and working your way across. Access is there...
Take some pix when you get access and post here?
