Next door has a BMW with a deep throaty exhaust. My alarm regularly goes off shortly after he starts the engine, yet the alarm on my mum's Mk4 golf, which sits closer to where the BMW is parked, does not go off.

Is there a way of adjusting the sensitivity on the alarm?

My MK IV Golf 2.0 GTi 3dr also has the same problem... And always has - VW dealers never fixethed - just replaced all sensors several times when under warranty - wouldn't desensitise alarm or anything clever :-(

Live in between two places - one home has main road with double decker busses - ALWAYS set the alarm off when they thunder past... Have to disable internal sensors using the "i've got a dog in my car" button...

The other home is on a quieter street... And rarely goes off, except for when a big truck decides to cut through and thunder past for whatever reason...

Folks have a Bora and it never gets set off by

So, I know if I could find a way of turning alarm sensitivity down, I'd be happy... Wish I had the good old sparkrite alarm that I'd fitted to my old MKI - that just had a little screw dial somewhere on the ultrasonic control module...

So, if anyone knows how - please let us know - would save having to keep remembering to disable the sensors depending upon where I park ;-)
